African American Moms with Boys,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
As you all may know I posted a blog on how you you raise your African American boy. I noticed it's harder for AAB to have their own sense of style. refused to allow my child sag his pants. But,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], like a baby I realized that it may be the parents which are at fault. My cousin will not allow her to DS wear anything BUT brand name clothes. He's 2. She could be struggling with bills or anything else but her son is definitely in the latest Coogi. I feel like it's nothing wrong with dressing your child in name brand clothes. If you can afford after that it hey. But,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], shall we be giving our little one the incorrect example when you are too materialistic??Do these clothes make sure they are mature too quickly??? I,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], personally will dress my child inside a array of clothing whether if it is brand or what ever is presentable. Among the finest to see other moms views on this.
I do not do the standard "black" big brands like roc a wear and all the urban stuff but I make sure my son has the best I can afford not because I think its cool or acceptable but its what I do for myself and I'm not going to do any less for him. He is only six mos so he wears all old navy stuff that is top quality and well worth the price. I do buy him lots of Jordan stuff, he has all of the onesies and beanies and had booties,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], now the air forces and the like but that is cause his daddy also offers a closet full and that i like to keep him like Daddy. He also has a lot of Disney stuff as well. As he gets older it could change but I hope to only dress him in what he feels comfortable in, not things i think will make him acceptable in the culture. Basically buy myself some Nikes or something like that I'll get him some as well. I like brand name shoes on my small kids. Some brand name clothing is okay,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], however i seem like we as AA are always attempting to overcompensate for something. I favor to let my LO's be kids; the reason by that is I'd rather them play and get dirty and spill things on clothes that I didn't break the bank buying. Additionally,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it doesn't seem sensible in my experience when individuals spend a ton of money on designer clothes that a baby is simply likely to grow out of really quickly. Until he is old enough to decorate himself and develop their own fashion sense he will dress the way in which I like boys/young men to become dressed. For me that's both preppy w/ a twist of skater. That's just me. And besides clothes don't result in the man,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the man makes the clothes.
Yall making me laugh nevertheless its so true. My cousin she is a mom who works and visit school. But,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], If you can't afford after that it why make extra stress. My other cousin just tripped me out. Calling me the yesterday asking me for the money. She'd her nails done,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hair done,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the new coogi coat. He daughter was GQ. Her car got repossed and she or he includes a newborn born in december. I simply do not get why spend all of your cash on other things to secure your image and also to be seem like everything is great. But,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], stay struggling.
Okay ladies I just had my baby shower and something of my guest mention. funny thing was wanted to buy my son the same fit. felt kinda offended because I would except anything people buy. And my baby phat collection has dwindled since high school. Yes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it had been all I wore. But, now I'm open to other clothing not only brand name.
I love the preppy look. I really like childrens place!! I wish to buy some pieces from polo. He's somethings from old navy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], target,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and have name brand items. I can not wait till hes of sufficient age for shoes!!
I do not care what name the garments are,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as long as they're in good shape and of good quality. I was a reputation brand freak with my oldest dd. I acquired fed up with spending money on a shirt she would stain the very first time she wore it. I couldn't get mad b/c she was little.
If I can catch a great sale on brand name clothing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then yes, I will purchase it. I'm not likely to spend $15 on the t-shirt simply because from the name,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sorry. I'll buy brand named running sneakers though.
I always said that I would dress my son in strictly brand name clothing but I find nice pieces in various stores. I am not going to ignore a nice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], cheap clothing b/c it does not say rocawear. My sister bought my nine year daughter an outift by Phat and my little cousin was attempting to tell my daughter how lucky she was to have Baby Phat. My daughter looked at her and said what is a Baby Phat? She had no clue because I don't buy her those kind of clothes. I personally buy whatever I love with this little man. I don't like the urban look though but hubby doesn't put it on either and so i have no idea if maybe that factors into it. He and my girls all have a mixture of clothes that I buy which are Polo after i do by brand name but I also love Children's place,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Gap along with other stores like that. I guess I should add I love TJMaxx for kids clothes too. They have the cutest things at good prices. I'll say the one thing I wont be cheap on are their shoes. I just don''t think that cheap shoes are of the same quality for his or her feet as other shoes are.
momtojunebaby,
LOL. I have to agree I cant stand those character shoes. I refuse to get them no matter how much they beg for them.
