Katrina Kaif turns up in bridal avatar for Manish Malhotra,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Actress Katrina Kaif looked a classic bride within an ivory and gold lehenga-choli as she walked the ramp because the showstopper for Bollywood's favourite designer Manish Malhotra on the fourth day's the PCJ Delhi Couture Week.
"I love wearing Indian clothes. But for my wedding I would choose something light, the one which I am wearing right now is very heavy at the bottom. Probably,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when I got married, I will ask Manish to improvise just a little. I'd definitely want him to create my bridal trousseau however everything depends where he will be at that time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Katrina said.
Manish, on his part, said, "Katrina is beautiful and she or he looks gorgeous in Indian clothes. Then when I figured of this collection, I'd just her in mind like a showstopper." The designs comprised of flowy bridal outfits in very 60s pinks and oranges and Manish's favourite - ivory. The styles and silhouettes were inspired in the 50s and 60s scenario in India and Pakistan.
"This was the preview of my autumn winter 2012 collection. I've drawn inspiration from the classic styles of 50's and 60's of India. The collection is soft elegant and vintage making us reminiscent of the timeless beauties from the era," Manish said.
A brief two and a half minute film directed by the designer himself was shown at the outset of the show. Actor Vidyut Jamwal of "Force" fame kick-started the show, because he walked on the ramp within an unbuttoned ivory sherwani,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], alongwith model Anjali Lavania.
While the girls sashayed down the ramp in lehengas, sarees, long anarkali styled kurta and churidars, the men wore sherwani, pathani salwars and black shoes with gold embellishments about the heels. The designs were enhanced with tilla work from Kashmir and antique zardosi embroidery. Thread, tilla and zari work were used heavily about the garments.
"The collection consisted of 20 select couture pieces,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which spun together an exquisite story of diverse timeless,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], vintage styles,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Manish said. Karan Johar, Shabana Azmi, Madhur Bhandarkar,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Satish Kaushik,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Suzanne Roshan,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Shweta Bachchan Nanda, designer Shaina NC and Aliya Bhatt cheered Manish in the front row.
The collection was showcased in a picturesque setting of an " old world " family room of the antique connoisseur creating a dramatic illusion about the stage. PTI
