National Beef Packing recalling nearly raw beef for E. coli concerns
WASHINGTON, June 19 () -- National Beef Packing Co. of Kansas is recalling nearly 23,000 pounds of raw ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli, federal officials say.The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said in a release Tuesday the products were produced May 25 and shipped to various institutions and retail establishments in Texas, Tennessee,[url=http://www.christianelouboutinoutlet.com]Christian Louboutin Discount[/url], Kansas, Mississippi, Illinois, Georgia,[url=http://www.christianelouboutinoutlet.com]Christian Louboutin Clearance[/url], Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and Arizona.Officials said the problem was discovered through routine FSIS monitoring, which confirmed the presence of E. coli O157:H7. National Beef in Liberal, Kan., was determined to be the sole supplier of the tainted ground beef.The company and federal agency said there had been no reports of any illnesses associated with the lots being recalled.The following products are subject to recall:-- 10 lb. packages of "National Beef" 80/20 Coarse Ground Chuck, package code "0481";-- 10 lb. packages of "National Beef" 81/19 Coarse Ground Beef, package code "0421"; and-- 10 lb. packages of "National Beef" 80/20 Fine Ground Chuck, package code "0484";FSIS said the products all had a use by/sell by date of June 14.E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps two to eight days after exposure. Most people recover within a week, but some develop a type of kidney failure called HUS.Consumers can contact the company at (877) 857-4143 for details about the recall, and its return and reimbursement policy.
